12/11/2008.
I had been eying this web domain since a few months but only managed to register recently. The surprising thing is that such a nice domain name was left virgin since so many years and even after I checked it on few appraiser and domain tools sites, no one really bothered to snap this 5L, valuable domain name with such a great acronym, that matches my other passion so much – Geographical Information Systems and one of my livelihood activities – GIS Resource Integrator. You think right, if you guessed my current passion – domain names – but I have a separate space for that. I finally got around to setting up the blog and posting this intro just today (11/Dec/2008) and for that I am very thankful to all the designers at newtelligence for creating this wonderful blog engine (utilizable on my subscribed Windows hosting, without consuming my meager SQL DB resource) and to Tom Watts for designing this wonderful theme, without which I might have given up on DasBlog and the Windows hosting and settled for WordPress and Linux hosting. So, that’s it folks about how I finally got around to putting pen to paper – nay – fingers to keyboard.
My credentials to perpetrate this blog on the web space are that I did my graduation in Geology; I have a basic GIS certificate from ESRI; My major work on GIS Resource Integration has been at the Kanha Tiger Reserve (that contains the popular Kanha National Park), where I assisted Dr. Rajesh Gopal (then CCF, now Director – Project Tiger) in mapping the Kanha biosphere to the GIS domain and in preparing a 10 year management plan (2001-2010) for the conservatory. The plan relies heavily on GIS and Information Technology to assimilate and analyze the vast collection of attributes in the natural preserve of the lord of the Indian jungles, the tiger.
Well, so much for the background. Dear friends, keep watching this space for my raves and rants.
